The Faculty of Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences and Humanities is committed to fostering the foundational human disciplines. Our faculty serve the diverse communities of northern British Columbia through relevant, creative, innovative, and curiosity-driven research and teaching in the fields of Anthropology, English, First Nations Studies, History, Global and International Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, Northern Studies, Political Science, and Women’s and Gender Studies.

UNBC to welcome new senior academic leader
Dr. Wendy Rodgers is UNBC's new Vice President Academic and Provost. In her new role, Dr. Rodgers will lead the comprehensive strategic planning, development, and implementation of academic priorities at UNBC.
Student paper earns scholarship prize
UNBC student Lydia Kinasewich won the W. Kaye Lamb scholarship for her research paper about the history of Harrison Hot Springs. Awarded by the British Columbia Historial Federation, the competition is open to all students writing about topics related to B.C.'s history.
Building supports for Indigenous students
UNBC Three Minute Thesis winner Cheri Brown is studying the lived experience of Indigenous students at post-secondary institutions. She hopes her findings will lead to more supports for Indigenous learners.
