The Faculty of Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences and Humanities is committed to fostering the foundational human disciplines. Our faculty serve the diverse communities of northern British Columbia through relevant, creative, innovative, and curiosity-driven research and teaching in the fields of Anthropology, English, First Nations Studies, History, Global and International Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, Northern Studies, Political Science, and Women’s and Gender Studies.

Our Faculty is committed to UNBC’s values on equity, diversity and inclusion. We believe that social and cultural diversity is core to enriching the learning environment of a modern university. The confluence of diversity and respectful discussion stimulates creative thoughts, new ways of thinking, and new pathways of inquiry. As teachers, researchers, and citizens of northern British Columbia, we value an engaged and collaborative approach to learning and scholarship built on a foundation of disciplinary excellence, innovation, and discovery; the engagement, respect, and recognition of Indigenous ways of knowing and knowledge systems; and a working and learning environment that promotes respect, integrity, and a meaningful and open dialogue in the pursuit of knowledge.
