NSC membership hold requests

Please review the membership terms and conditions for membership holds below before proceeding with your request.


Account balance

  • Outstanding amounts and fees must be paid prior to hold requests being processed. This includes any fees incurred after the request is submitted.

Hold requests

  • Hold requests are submitted using the online request form, or in-person at the front desk of the Northern Sport Centre.
  • Verbal instructions and phone calls are not accepted.

Full months only

  • Holds are processed in full months, (28 to 31 days), from the hold request start date.
  • Partial-month holds are not permitted.

Hold limit

  • Holds are limited to a maximum of three months per calendar year, either consecutive or non-consecutive months.

No backdating hold requests

  • Consideration may be given for medical reasons with a valid doctor's note and within two months of the date the dues were charged. A maximum refund of two months could apply.

Registered program fees

  • Non-member registered program fees still apply after the membership hold start date.
  • Please notify the NSC if you will have an active membership when your registered program starts. The non-member rate may be adjusted to the member rate.

Parking permits

  • Paid parking is enforced 24/7 and members are responsible for citations if an expired or invalid parking permit is used.

Membership hold terms and conditions

Holds for monthly pre-authorized debit (PAD) memberships

PAD memberships are monthly dues paid automatically from a bank account.

  • Requests must be submitted by the 15th of the month prior to the month I wish to be on hold.
  • If my request is submitted after the 15th of the month, my next monthly dues will be charged. The number of months and my hold request start date will be adjusted. My hold request end date will not be adjusted.
  • It is my responsibility to check my monthly bank statement to ensure dues are not charged during the hold period.
  • Monthly membership dues will automatically resume after my hold request end date.
  • An early return from hold fee will apply if I wish to activate my membership prior to the hold request end date.
  • Locker rentals cannot be placed on hold. Monthly rental fees will continue to be charged during my hold period.

Holds for pre-paid in full (PIF) memberships

PIF memberships are monthly dues paid in full at the time of member registration.

  • The number of full months on hold will be extended on my membership expiry date in full months.
  • Assumption of risk, agreement to abide by rules of safety, informed consent, and terms of conditions of household agreement(s) will apply to extended expiry dates.
  • Hold requests are not backdated. Consideration may be given for medical reasons, if a valid doctor's note is provided within two months of the date the dues were charged. A maximum refund of two months could apply.
  • I will bring in my parking permit(s) to have the expiry date(s) updated. I am responsible for citations if an expired parking permit is used.
  • An early return from hold fee will apply if I wish to activate my membership prior to the hold request end date.

Please note: All membership hold requests depend on final approvals and verification of account details with the NSC.

Hold details, monthly dues, and your membership expiry date will be adjusted, taking into consideration member accounts and the hold details listed above.

NSC membership cancellation requests

Please review the membership terms and conditions for membership cancellations below before proceeding with your request.

Account balance

Cancellation requests

  • Cancellation requests are submitted through the online request form or in-person at the front desk of the Northern Sport Centre.
  • Verbal instructions and phone calls are not accepted.

Membership commitment

  • Cancellations can only be processed after three (3) months of dues have been paid (per membership).

No backdating cancellation requests

  • Consideration may be given for medical reasons with a valid doctor's note within two months of the date the dues were charged. A maximum refund of two months could apply.

Parking permits

  • A $10.00 administration fee will apply until valid parking permits are returned ($10.00 per parking permit).

Other household family memberships

  • Other household family memberships (e.g. spouse, child, etc.) may be affected. They may have to sign up for a new membership. Regular membership types and rates apply.

Membership cancellation terms and conditions

Cancellations for monthly pre-authorized debit (PAD) memberships

PAD memberships are monthly dues paid automatically from a bank account.

  • Requests must be submitted by the 15th of the month prior to the month I wish to cancel. The cancellation date will be the last date of the month.
  • If my request is submitted after the 15th of the month, my next monthly dues will be charged and my cancellation date will be adjusted accordingly.
  • It is my responsibility to check my monthly bank statement to ensure my dues are not charged after my cancellation date.
  • Banking information will not be retained by the NSC for future membership renewals. I will need to provide my banking information to the NCS again if I renew or sign up again later.

Cancellations for pre-paid in full (PIF) memberships

PIF memberships are monthly dues pre-paid in full at the time of member registration.

  • Cancellation dates are dependent on the member registration date (e.g. if a member registers on the 20th of the month, the membership will be cancelled on the 20th of the requested cancellation month).
  • Requests are accepted any time before a membership expires. Refunds only apply to full months following the expiry date.
  • Applicable refunds may take 3 to 4 weeks to process.

How long do you want to place your membership on hold? - Optional
You may place your membership on hold for up to 3 months. If your membership has already been on hold within the year, your request may be shortened in duration or denied.
