Tumbler Ridge
A planned community, Tumbler Ridge was built in 1981 to meet the needs of the then coal mining industry. It has become renowned across the world as a dinosaur fossil mecca; the surrounding area is listed in the UNESCO Global Geopark Network. A community of almost 2400 people, Tumbler Ridge is on Treaty 8 territory, including the lands of the Saulteau First Nation, West Moberly First Nation, and Kelly Lake Cree Nation.
The Tumbler Ridge Community Health Centre provides a variety of health services to local residents, including ambulatory care, ER care, lab and medical imaging, public health care, home and community care and mental health services.
Located near the confluence of two rivers, Tumbler Ridge offers a variety of outdoor recreation experiences with nearby waterfalls (including Kinuseo Falls which are higher than Niagara Falls), hiking and ATV trails, and fossil tracks.
