Nov. 20 Update - Masks, Health & Safety
The Northern Sport Centre is following all COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
On November 19, the Provincial Health Officer issued an Order and province-wide restrictions in regards to wearing masks and participating in athletic activities. These are effective immediately until midnight December 7, 2020.
- Masks are now required for everyone in all public indoor settings and workplaces, which includes our facility. Please wear a mask all the time where possible except for those who are unable.
- Unfortunately, we have had to cancel all high-intensity drop-in fitness classes and any events considered to be social gatherings.
- All sporting games, competitions and practices can continue per ViaSport Phase 3 guideline requirements. For some, masks may not be required in the field of play.
- Our enhanced cleaning and sanitization requirements remain in place.
We are grateful to the NSC community for adhering to these new directions; the more we pull together and respectfully support one another, the safer we will all be.
Beginning at the entrance, you will notice the separate entry and exit points. Inside, we have set up physical distancing, cleanliness and minimal touch point protocols.
What to expect:
- Physical distancing cues
- Enhanced facility and equipment cleaning measures
- Additional hand sanitizers
- Single-use equipment cleaning supplies
- Closed change rooms
- Machines spaced to ensure physical distancing
- Smaller fitness classes
- Single direction traffic control
- Closed water fountains (bottle refill station is open)
- Equipment loan and rental eg. basketballs, skipping ropes, racquets has been eliminated
- We are accepting cash for payment but prefer debit or credit card to reduce touch points
Some of these measures are temporary. Some will be permanent.
As the COVID-19 situation evolves, so will our response. Your cooperation is key to the Northern Sport Centre’s successful re-open.
We will only accept 100% compliance. Members and users who fail to follow our guidelines will be asked to leave the facility and may not be welcome to return.
