“On behalf of the NMP, I would like to thank Dr. Temple for her tremendous leadership, teaching and commitment to medical education in the North over the past 15 years,” said Dr. Paul Winwood, Regional Assoc. Dean, Northern BC, UBC Faculty of Medicine and Assoc. VP, Division of Medical Sciences, UNBC.

In reflecting on his new role, Bron notes, “I recently started rural practice in Chetwynd, and with that transition got to know Dr. Becky Temple. “As medical director of the northeast and previous holder of this position, Becky introduced me to the role. I feel more than anything else, this role actually drew me in!  I have always enjoyed the academic and administrative aspects of medicine.

“One of our recurring discussions was about medical learners, and my desire to get both students and residents to Chetwynd again. I feel the importance of facilitating and engaging medical learners for rural practice cannot be overstated. I am very passionate about recruitment and retention of rural and northern physicians, so what better place to start than with third year rural clerkship rotations!

Bron is passionate about full-scope and rural family medicine, with a particular interest in GP-obstetrics and minor procedures.

“I want to draw physicians-in-training to northern medicine. I find that we as preceptors can learn from our students nearly as much as we have to bestow upon them. Family Medicine is an incredibly broad field, and teaching medical learners keeps us abreast of current evidence based practice.”

Bron grew up in Quesnel, later moving to Prince George to study at UNBC. He completed medical school in California, followed by Family Medicine residency in Prince George.

“It is a privilege to be contributing to the development of future physician colleagues and I look forward to many adventures going forward!”
