Service Excellence – Individual and Team

The President’s Award for Service Excellence acknowledges individuals or teams who provide exceptional service that enhances the student and employee experience which contributes to a culture of connectedness at UNBC. These employees demonstrate reliability, responsiveness, and relationships, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for students, staff, faculty, and community members.  

Criteria

  • Consistently exceeds expectations by providing exemplary support to students, faculty, staff and community, while positively impacting the university environment.
  • Shows reliability by consistently offering professional expertise and fulfilling commitments to the UNBC community.
  • Demonstrates responsiveness by addressing the needs of students, faculty, staff, and community in a proactive and effective manner.
  • Builds strong relationships by fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and mutual support among teams, contributing to an excellent student and employee experience. 

Creative Initiative – Team

The President’s Award for Creative Initiative recognizes teams that develop and implement innovative ideas or programs that support excellent student, faculty, and staff experiences, streamline operations, and foster a sense of community at UNBC. These ideas or programs may be new systems, technologies, products, programs, or policies that tackle process, social, cultural, civic, or health and safety issues. 

Criteria

  • Creates solutions that improve learner-centred services, accessibility, and belonging at UNBC.
  • Implements innovative strategies and systems that lead to efficient and effective processes, improving student, faculty, and staff employee experiences. 
  • Cultivates an innovative work and learning environment that allows team members to look for a better way of doing their job.

Leadership – CUPE Local 3799 Members and Exempt Staff

The President’s Award for Leadership celebrates employees who demonstrate outstanding leadership in fostering a positive and supportive work environment. These leaders contribute to both student success and employee well-being by promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility; overall well-being; and empowering colleagues to continuously improve services that directly impact the student, faculty, staff and community experience.

Criteria

  • Models leadership that creates connected and supportive student and employee experiences. 
  • Leads initiatives that empower teams to support UNBC’s student-centred focus. 
  • Actively contributes to advancing Truth and Reconciliation efforts at the UNBC. 
  • Champions equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, ensuring a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and community.
  • Provides employees with access to opportunities to develop new skills, create opportunities for employees to share ideas, and provide feedback on priorities or goals.

Nomination form

Please complete the form below to make a nomination for the President's Staff Awards and Employee Recognition. We recommend that you work on your nomination in a MS Word document, then paste it into the form below, as you will not be able to save your progress as you fill out the form.

  • Nominations must be submitted by Friday, December 13, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted.
     
  • Only one category nomination can be submitted at a time. If you want to make a nomination in more than one category, please complete one form per nomination.
     
  • All administrative and support staff employees of UNBC are eligible to be nominated for these awards as either an individual or group. They must have served a minimum of twelve consecutive months as an employee prior to the nomination and remain a current employee at the time of recognition.
     
  • Nominations can only be accepted from UNBC staff, faculty, senior administration, and students. Each nomination must include three supporting signatures and the support of the nominee's supervisor.
     
  • Details of nominations will remain confidential, however award recipients will receive a copy of the nomination.
     
  • The Employee Recognition Awards Selection Committee consists of volunteer representatives from each of the employee groups at UNBC. The Committee will review the nominations and unanimously recommend deserving recipients.

Guidelines

  • Tell the nominee’s story as you would to a stranger.
  • Provide a complete overview of the nominee or team’s accomplishments; note that the committee may not know your nominee.
  • Support the nomination with your own observations, as well as qualitative and quantitative facts, evidence, and metrics.
  • Don’t just say your nominee is outstanding, prove it!
  • State why you feel the candidate/candidates you are nominating should be a recipient of this award based on the given criteria. Include the impact or the outcome that resulted from the nominee’s contribution.
  • Cite specific examples of how the candidate’s/candidates’ achievements for this award were exhibited. Include data or statistics that illustrate the outcomes.
  • In what ways have the contributions of the candidate/candidates impacted UNBC’s work and learning environment?
  • How do the contributions of the candidate/candidates support the strategic priorities of UNBC, and/or benefit the University and/or community?
