In its ongoing efforts to increase awareness of its services, the Health Research Institute (HRI) has been actively engaging with students through various events. Notably, in September 2024, the HRI hosted a table at the UNBC Orientation Fair, where they provided information about their services and resources to incoming students. This hands-on presence allowed students and faculty to connect directly with HRI staff and student representatives and learn about the supports available to them. Additionally, in March 2025, Leana Garraway served as a panelist for the UNBC Career Centre's inaugural "Careers in Research" night.

Furthermore, the three HRI Leadership Council Student Representatives organized two meet-and-greet events for students to connect, strengthen relationships across campus, discuss research interests, network, and brainstorm ways the HRI can better support students interested in health research at UNBC. The student representatives are also involved in various HRI activities; Jake Ostberg is a member of the Planning Committee for the 2025 Northern Research and Quality Conference (UNBC-NH co-hosted event), and Nuziha Thasneem Shakkir is a member of the HRI Seminar Series Planning Committee, and in this capacity hosted the April 2025 Seminar. These events and initiatives highlight the HRI’s commitment to supporting student success by fostering connections and providing career resources.
