Research and community come together through Sahtú Dene and UNBC collaboration

A partnership between UNBC and the Sahtú Land and Water Board is supporting oilfield reclamation guided by Sahtú Dene knowledge. UNBC alumna Annie King is playing a key role in the research through her work in community engagement.

Dr. Tristan Pearce reappointed as Tier 2 Canada Research Chair

Dr. Tristan Pearce, Associate Professor in the Department of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences at UNBC, has been reappointed as a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Cumulative Impacts of Environmental Change.

New volcano course advances Indigenization

Students participating in a summer geography course will spend six days learning about both the Nisga'a history and culture surrounding the Sii Aks volcano and volcanology.

Strong foundation for future learning

The breadth and depth of experiences that came with pursing a Bachelor of Arts degree at UNBC ignited a passion in Will Hanlon that he plans to carry forward into law school in September. Hanlon will reflect on drawing strength and resiliency from community in his valedictory address to classmates during Ceremony 2 of UNBC’s 2024 Convocation.
