The Faculty of Science and Engineering is a group of faculty, staff, and students who share a common passion for the pursuit of knowledge of the natural world and the discovery of applications of that knowledge to solve the wicked problems that society faces. The Faculty represents the dependence of engineering on the disciplines of science and the dependence of the disciplines of science on each other and engineering.
We acknowledge that the land on which UNBC’s Prince George campus is located is within the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh. We offer programs to many First Nations and other Indigenous communities in our region. We acknowledge the many negative effects of colonialism on the people that have cared for this land for generations.
One of our goals in the Faculty of Science and Engineering is to bring science and engineering to a more diverse population including women, visible minorities and local Indigenous communities in our region. As part of Canada’s Green University, our research and courses encompass many aspects of sustainability, environmental restoration, natural products and technologies to protect the environment.

First class of engineering graduates poised to cross the Convocation stage
After four years of study, the first class of civil and environmental engineering graduates to complete all four years of their education at UNBC are set to receive their Bachelor of Applied Science degrees at the Prince George Convocation ceremony on May 26.

UNBC becomes university member at TRIUMF
UNBC is one of seven new university members of TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre. UNBC researchers have been working on projects at the facility since 1993. Currently, UNBC is involved in a project that aims to build the world’s most advanced ultra-cold-neutron facility to carry out the world’s most precise measurement of the neutron electric dipole moment.
Fostering a sense of community
A strong sense of community is important to Daleiah Barker. As president of the Afro-Caribbean Student Association at UNBC, Barker sees events that promote a deeper understanding of the different cultural backgrounds of our students, faculty and staff as a critical way to strengthen our community on campus.
Active Minds leader earns national recognition
Fourth-year Computer Science student Elizabeth Norman received an Instructor Recognition Award from Actua for her work with young people in northern B.C. through UNBC's Active Minds program.

The Koopmans siblings make up six of UNBC's 16,000-strong alumni.
