ThePassport Program provides the passport owner with a way to document and record theirparticipation in professional development activities offered through the Centrefor Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT). These activities include theannual Workshop on Teaching, the Teaching Assistant Workshops, lecturesin the Seminar Series, and otherevents facilitated by the CTLT.
There are two components to thePassport Program: the Passport of Participation and the Facilitator Passport.
What is the Passportof Participation?
The Passport of Participation providesa way of acknowledging and recording the owner’s participation in professionaldevelopment activities offered by the CTLT. The Passport can be used as part ofa teaching dossier to demonstrate the owner’s commitment to enhancing teachingand learning at UNBC.
Who can have aPassport of Participation?
Any member of the UNBC teachingcommunity who participates in professional development activities offered bythe CTLT may obtain a passport. This includes current and new UNBC faculty andstaff, graduate students, and College of New Caledonia (CNC) faculty. Passportscan be picked up at the CTLT.
How does the Passportof Participation work?
At theend of every CTLT-sponsored event, the facilitator will offer asigned record of completion sticker which is to be adhered to the passport. Stickersizes vary according to the length of the seminar or workshop. For example, asmall sticker (1”x4”) is used for events under three hours in length, while alarge sticker (2”x4”) represents an event three hours or more in length.
A completedpassport contains 12 small stickers or 6 large stickers or any combination ofthe two that is the equivalent of 12 small stickers. Once the passport has beencompleted, the owner is invited to visit the CTLT to choose a teaching andlearning resource from several that are available. The value of these resourcesgenerally ranges between $10-15.

What is theFacilitator Passport?
The Facilitator Passportprovides a record over time of the leadership role taken by the owner infacilitating or leading organized professional development activities offeredby the CTLT. The passport can be used as part of a teaching dossier todemonstrate the owner’s educational leadership activities and contributions toenhancing teaching and learning at UNBC.
Who can have aFacilitator Passport?
Any member of the UNBC teachingcommunity, who has led, facilitated or presented at workshops, seminars or otherevents sponsored by the CTLT may obtain a facilitator passport.
How does theFacilitator Passport work?
Facilitators/presenters/leadersreceive a CTLT issued sticker for each completed workshop, seminar or event,which is to be adhered to the passport. Each sticker (2”x4”) has the title, theduration and the date of the event, as well as the facilitators name on it.
A completedpassport contains six facilitator stickers. Once the passport is completed,owners are invited to contact the CTLT. In recognition of the owner’sleadership contributions to the teaching community at UNBC, they will beoffered a choice of one of several teaching and learning resources available.These resources are intended to assist in developing, adapting and implementingnew ideas related to teaching and learning.
