Good afternoon,
The violence in Iran directed at civilian protesters in response to the tragic death of Mahsa Amini is alarming. As a University community, we value the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including the ability for all people to peacefully assemble and voice their opinions. Our hearts go out to the families of those who lost loved ones.
The world is in a constant state of turmoil, and that can affect us all differently. At UNBC, we have supports in place for our students, faculty and staff who are impacted by what is happening in Iran. Please refer to the resources at the top of this message and pass the information along to others in our community who are seeking support.
In troubled times, the UNBC community is here to support one another, and stands in solidarity with those who may be impacted by news events in other jurisdictions.
Thank you,
Geoff Payne
UNBC President and Vice-Chancellor
