How to access counselling at UNBC
- Call, email, or visit Counselling Services (5-168) to setup an initial appointment.
- A counsellor will then meet with you over the phone, video, or in-person after completing first-time session forms prior to your appointment. You can complete the forms digitally with the files attached below to speed-up the process. You can either print these forms and bring them in-person or email them to wellness@unbc.ca once completed.
- At the end of your initial appointment, you will work with the counsellor to establish next steps.
Individual counselling
Individual counselling is a one-on-one session based on the client’s specific needs and goals. First-time sessions will take approximately 30 minutes while follow-up sessions take approximately 1 hour.
Students who identify as Black, Indigenous and/or racialized can request to meet with a counsellor who also identifies as part of those communities and is able to relate to the experience of racism and mental health.
