Students transferring to the BSc (Conservation Science and Practice Wildland Conservation and Recreation), or the BA (Nature-Based Tourism Management) at UNBC generally need to have the courses from their College or University articulated on a case-by-case basis to UNBC courses. Usually university-level courses are given equivalent credit at UNBC. UNBC maintains a website of established Transfer Credit Pathways which we are constantly adding to, and the BC Government maintains a website to help students figure out existing transfer agreements and specific course articulations between institutions. Check the online guides to see what transfer agreements are in place. If you don't see one, check with us. *Note that our former program name was Resource Recreation and Tourism (RRT) - you may still see transfers to UNBC RRT courses - but look for transfers to ORTM courses.
Students who have completed a two- or three-year diploma receive specific amounts of credit for that diploma. Although the amount of transfer credit that a student receives is important, of equal importance are the specific courses that students still need to take to complete their degree.

Courtney graduated with a Tourism Management Diploma from Capilano University in December 2007 and transferred to ORTM. She graduated less than two years later in December 2009
Dan came to us after completing a Forest Technicians diploma …but was keen to switch to the ORTM BSc in Natural Resources with a Major in Outdoor Recreation and Conservation. Looking at Dan’s transcript it was easy to see he had completed many of the 1st and 2nd year natural resource requirements common to both degrees… this meant Dan just needed to supplement his course work at the lower levels with the specific outdoor recreation courses – then he could move quickly into his upper level studies. Dan graduated from the program and now works as a recreation planner.
