UNBC supports numerous teaching labs, research labs, and a commercial analytical lab.  These laboratories address a broad range of topics and materials, including environmental genetics, atmospheric behavior, network development, environmental contamination mitigation, and cellular function.

Safety is one of UNBC’s operational values, and UNBC pursues an active and evolving lab safety program.  UNBC's laboratory safety program ensures that laboratory users can safely and effectively pursue research and teaching regimens.  The laboratory safety program is under continuous development, with safety officers and the Laboratory Safety Committee identifying and addressing safety issues.   The Labs website is intended as a reference site for laboratory users.

Laboratory personnel (supervisors, research associates, post-doctoral fellows, Senior Lab Instructors, graduate students, research undergraduate students, etc.) are expected to subscribe to the labs@unbc.ca mailing list.  This email list functions as the primary means of communication to laboratory users.  Information disseminated through the list includes maintenance (fume hood certification, fume hood repair, plumbing, expected power outages), changes to or reminders about lab-related UNBC policies and procedures (waste handling, access, protective equipment), Chemstores closures, opportunities for free equipment or materials, safety and regulatory bulletins, and reminders about upcoming Lab Safety & Methodology Orientation sessions.
