References
If you have outstanding references, be sure you check your dashboard to ensure you have entered your referee's email address correctly. If you see an error, contact us. You can follow up directly with your referees if you note a reference has not yet been submitted.
Unofficial transcripts
Most often, the documents we need are transcripts, to give us a better understanding of your academic history. If you have unofficial transcripts or documents, we encourage you to send them to us as we may be able to use them for a preliminary, interim evaluation. You can email us those documents to the appropriate Admissions Team.
Please note: Documents must be saved in PDF format to be accepted by the UNBC Admissions Team.
If you are admissible, we will still need official documents for final verification before you can be given clear admission to UNBC. Official transcripts are those that have been sent to UNBC directly from the issuing institution, or those received in an envelope originally sealed by the issuing institution. If your transcripts are in a language other than English, they will need to be accompanied by an official, notarized translation.
Official transcripts
It is important that you authorize UNBC to receive your official transcripts from Student Transcript Services (STS), so that we can receive your interim and final high school transcripts as soon as they are available. Please visit the B.C. Government: Order transcripts and certificates web page. It is best if you give us access to your transcripts until at least the end of September 2025.
Course requirements and missing prerequisites
A prerequisite course is an academic requirement that must be completed prior to the student taking a course. Unless otherwise stated, a passing grade of D- or better is required to satisfy as a prerequisite course.

Self-predicted grades
While you’re still in high school, we need your self-declared grades for our first review of your application. Your self-predicted grades are an important way for us to be able to provide an initial assessment of your application, and "allow you to" so that you can be considered for our awards.
There are two types of these grades. One is the predicted (or best guess) final grade for a course you are planning to take. The other self-declared grade is the predicted grade for a course you may have already received a grade for, which may be a course you are currently in progress with (your interim grade) or one you have completed. You can use interim and final marks for your self-declared grades. Your predicted grades can be emailed to us at the appropriate Admissions Team.
Not taking a course that is listed on your dashboard? That's okay - you can still be admissible providing you provide at least five Grade 12 courses (English 12, three academic Grade 12 courses, and a fifth Grade 12 course (academic or non-academic)).
You can take an equivalent at UNBC when you start your studies; please reach out to your Student Advisor.
