New UNBC Women’s Soccer Coach Set for CIS Season

Media Release

Hot on the heels of hiring a new men’s soccer coach, UNBC Athletics Director Jason Kerswill has chosen the newest member of the UNBC coaching team. Andy Cameron will be the new head coach for UNBC’s women’s soccer team for their first season in the Canada West league.

Cameron has 20 years of university coaching experience under his belt, all in the CIS and provincial team levels, and has been a Technical Director in four provinces.  He’s moving west from New Brunswick, where he’s spent the last nine years coaching UNB’s Varsity Reds.

“This is an exciting time for women's soccer at UNBC,” says Kerswill.  “We have a first class facility here and our goal is to raise the profile of our women's program– I believe Andy’s experience makes him the candidate best suited to achieve that goal. His work in developing programs is what we need here at UNBC.”

Cameron’s first order of business will be to meet returning players and start to build out the rest of the roster.  “Recruiting for this year and beyond will be essential for the success of our team,” explains Cameron. “I’m confident that we’ll be able to make the move from PACWEST to Canada West smoothly, and I think UNBC is an impressive campus to recruit to.”

Kerswill is thrilled to have both men’s and women’s coaching positions filled. “With the addition of Andy to our UNBC Athletics team we are again adding experience and know-how for our move to Canada West. Between Andy and Alan [Alderson] I feel we have attracted two very qualified and passionate coaches to lead the Timberwolves.”

Cameron will officially begin work as the head coach of the women's soccer program on June 18th.
