A famed Canadian journalist and documentarian will be the keynote speaker at a fundraising event next month in support of the Northern Medical Programs Trust and the Prince George Community Foundation.
Gwynne Dyer will address the 5th Annual Dr. Bob Ewert Memorial Lecture and Dinner, an event that highlights major health issues and celebrates health services in the North. The title of Mr. Dyer’s presentation will be Climate Wars: The Geopolitical Implications of Climate Change. The lecture is based on his new book "Climate Wars" and deals with the frightening geopolitical implications of global climate change.
“Throughout his highly acclaimed career, Gwynne Dyer has performed in-depth coverage and commentary on the greatest issues facing Canada and the world,” says organizer and Northern Medical Society President Michelle Sutter. “We feel very privileged to have such a distinguished speaker address our event about such a critical and timely issue.”
The inaugural Ewert lecture was held in 2004 and includes the lecture as well as annual inductions into the Northern Medical Society Hall of Fame. There will be three inductees this year: Dr. Eldon Lee, Dr. Fergus Ducharme, and Dr. John Mackenzie.
The Ewert Lecture and Dinner will be held on April 4. Tickets are $100 each and are available from the Office of University Advancement at UNBC – 250.960.5750. Attendees also have the option of purchasing entire tables of ten. Proceeds will support a Nursing fund in the Northern Medical Programs Trust and the Dr. Bob Ewert Memorial Lecture Endowment, which is held by the Prince George Community Foundation.
The Dr. Bob Ewert Memorial Lecture and Dinner is presented by the Northern Medical Society, the Prince George Community Foundation, and UNBC. The event will be held on April 4 at the Prince George Civic Centre. Reception at 5:30. Lecture at 6:30. Dinner to follow.
