UNBC Places Among the Best in BC

Debut in Globe and Mail's "University Report Card"

The University of Northern British Columbia has participated for thefirst time in the Globe and Mail’s University Report Card, which waspublished today. In many categories, UNBC placed among the best inCanada and among the best in British Columbia. Click here for the details about UNBC.

Unlike Maclean’s magazine, which ranks universities nationwide, theGlobe and Mail conducts a survey of students at 55 universities andpresents the results in 15 categories ranging from overall studentsatisfaction to the quality of campus technology. Seven universitiesfrom BC participated in the survey: UNBC, UBC, Simon Fraser, UVic, ThompsonRivers University, UBC Okanagan, and the University of the FraserValley.

Highlights for UNBC include:

  • Placing first province-wide in the class size, course registration, and campus buildings categories.
  • Placing second province-wide in overall student satisfaction and thequality of teaching, quality of education, student-faculty interaction,academic reputation, extracurricular activities, campus atmosphere, andcampus technology.


The Globe and Mail surveyed more than 43,000 undergraduate students indeveloping its University Report Card. It’s the 7th issue of thepublication.
