The UNBC Timberwolves men’s basketball team has found their new head coach to lead them into the national championships this upcoming March, 2009. Mike Raimbault comes to UNBC from Brandon University where he spent last season as head coach and the two previous seasons as the assistant. Mike is a graduate of Brandon University, holding degrees in both Education and General Studies, with a strong passion and desire to pursue a coaching career.
UNBC Director, Athletics and Recreation, Len McNamara, commented “We feel Mike has the experience and leadership to make our team successful both on the court and in the classroom.” McNamara said there were a number of excellent candidates interested in the position. “I was impressed with the credentials of many of our candidates and I believe this reflects the success and growth of our program. The new facility, the women winning the provincials, our hosting the men’s nationals in March 2009, our pending application to Canada West and the local support from our community were all mentioned by the candidates as positive indicators that UNBC Athletics is headed in the right direction”.
Mike Raimbault will officially begin his work at UNBC starting August 5th.
