In conjunction with the start of classes in the 2007-08 academic year,UNBC will be presenting a variety of activities to ease the transitionfor new students. All new students are receiving a green/gold wristbandto distinguish them from returning students. Following are some of themajor activities:
Sunday, September 2 Welcome, information sessions, and campus tours.
Tuesday, September 4 **First day of classes** NUGSS Day. The Northern Undergraduate Student Society will provideinformation about their clubs and services and host a volleyballtournament on campus starting at 5pm. Students will also be able topick-up free spruce tree seedlings and plant them at the ceremonialentrance starting at 2pm.
Thursday, September 6 8am - Pancake breakfast in the Cafeteria hosted by the President,senior administration, and the Orientation team for all new andreturning students. Various community organizations will also havedisplays on campus today.
Friday, September 7 To complete Orientation week, student clubs will have displays aroundthe campus and NUGSS will be presenting its 13th annual Backyard BBQ inthe Agora Courtyard starting at 6:30pm. Bands will include Ceremony,the Daniel Wesley Band, and Marianas Trench.
“In addition to the major events, there will be a wide variety ofworkshops, seminars, tours, social events, presentations, andcompetitions, all geared to making the first week of school fun andwelcoming for everyone,” says UNBC student Melissa Schneider, thestudent coordinator of this year’s Orientation activities at UNBC. “Alot of students come to UNBC and Prince George because of our size andOrientation is meant to provide a personal connection to the Universityand the community from the very beginning. About 60 differentactivities are planned, ranging from workshops on study skills andgetting involved in student clubs, to an outdoor movie night.”
