By the end of this week’s Convocation ceremony, UNBC will have another730 alumni, Alex Michalos will have been installed as UNBC’s fourthChancellor, and two distinguished Canadians will have received honorarydegrees.

Convocation 2007 will take place on Friday, May 25, at CN Centre inPrince George. The ceremony will begin at 1:30pm, but earlier in theday, all graduates will participate in a class photograph on campus.This photo will take place in the Agora Courtyard at 10:30am. Therewill also be an alumni barbeque on campus starting at 4:30pm. Otherhighlights:

  • This year, the first graduates from Environmental Engineering and theBachelor of Environmental Planning will receive their degrees. Based oncurrent information about the students who are eligible to graduate,the major producing the most graduates this year will be Nursing (65).After Prince George, the city producing the largest number of graduateswill be Quesnel (42).
  • Honorary degrees will be presented to former UBC president Martha Piper and health educator and researcher Mamoru Watanabe. Click here for the related news release.

  • At the conclusion of Convocation 2007, the total number of UNBC alumni will top 6,200.


After the Prince George Convocation ceremony, the University will hosta number of graduation ceremonies in various northern BC communities,recognizing those students who completed their coursework in regionalcampuses. Following is the schedule for the regional events:

Quesnel, Wednesday, May 30, 6:30pm, North Cariboo Community Campus

Fort St. John, Thursday, May 31, 7:00pm, North Peace Cultural Centre
