The Government of British Columbia has announced $6 million infunding to improve the health of aboriginal people. The funding is beingprovided to UNBC and its National Collaborating Centre on AboriginalHealth (NCCAH).

The NCCAH was created by theGovernment of Canada in 2005 to focus research and programming onreducing the health inequities that currently exist for aboriginalpeople across Canada.

The funding is being provided throughActNow, a Government initiative aimed at improving the health of allBritish Columbians by promoting active lifestyles and healthyeating. The funding announced today will support programs specificallyfor aboriginal people, who face a shorter lifespan than the BC average.
