Students looking to pursue a university education at UNBC are noweligible to receive up to $8,000 as part of a new scholarship programthat will provide a financial pay-out for each year of a bachelor'sdegree program.

Unlike many scholarships, whichprovide a financial award for students in their first year of study,the new UNBC program is spread out over four years, giving studentsgreater certainty over the multi-years costs of attending university. There are three levels - $8,000, $6,000, and $4,000 - and applicationsfrom students are now being accepted. The first recipients were announced today at a student information session in Terrace:

• Nathan Froese is graduating from Caledonia Secondary in Terrace
• Brandon Haldane is Student Council President at Charles Hays Secondary in Prince Rupert
• Patrick Law is currently attending Prince Rupert Secondary 

Each is receiving a $6,000 award ($1500 per year for four years) and each is planning to attend UNBC in September.

The four-year scholarship guarantee was developed by UNBC President, Don Cozzetto.
