The University of Northern British Columbia is seeking nominations for the position of Chancellor.

The Chancellor is the ceremonial head of the University, conferring alldegrees, acting as a senior representative of the University, anddistinguishing the University by his/her reputation as an outstandingleader in British Columbia and in Canada. The Chancellor is also amember of both the UNBC Board of Governors and Senate. It is anhonorary and unpaid position.

Peter Bentley’s first, three-year term as Chancellor will end in theSpring of 2007, but he is eligible to serve for another term and is agreeing to let his name stand.Nevertheless, the University will accept other nominations.

"UNBC has benefited enormously from its Chancellors over the years.Their national standing has contributed to the development of thisuniversity and they have worked tirelessly to promote UNBC acrossCanada," says UNBC President Don Cozzetto. “Chancellor Bentley hasdistinguished UNBC through his service.”

Nominations for the position of Chancellor must be received in writingby the University no later than Friday, December 1, 2006 and mustinclude the following:

• name, address, phone number, title, and biographical information of the nominee
• the names and signatures of seven members of the UNBC Convocation supporting the nominee

The members of the UNBC Convocation consist of the Chancellor,President, members of the Senate, faculty members, UNBC graduates, andsome founders who were added to the Convocation Roll by theUniversity's Interim Governing Council.
