The Board of Governors for the University of Northern British Columbia has ratified a new, four-yearagreement with the University’s Faculty Association. Recently, the faculty alsoendorsed the agreement, with a ratification vote of 94% in favour.

Thenew agreement takes effect on July 1, 2006 and expires at the end of June,2010. In addition to the $3700 incentive bonus for each full-time member of theFaculty Association, the members will receive – on average – close to 13% inwage increases over the four years of the contract.

TheFaculty Association represents about 450 faculty, librarians, and seniorlaboratory instructors.

Inaddition, the Board has approved a new agreement for the University’s CUPEemployees subject to ratification by the support staff.

Thesetwo agreements were reached prior to the Government of BC’s March 31st deadline and all are fora period of four years.
