UNBC Hosts Summer Camps

The Universityof Northern British Columbia ishosting various summer camps at the PrinceGeorge campus to help occupy local elementary and secondaryschool students who are looking to occupy some time over the summer. UNBCstudents or alumni are instructors in all of the camps.
The ScienceUniversity for Northern Youth (SUNY) began on July 4th, but it hasweek-long sessions running until the end of August. SUNY provides camps on theLife and Physical Sciences for youths aged 10 years old and up. There is also aComputer Science camp for those aged 12 years and older. SUNY takes a hands-onapproach to science and technology and provides students with access to thestate-of-the-art science and computer equipment at UNBC. For more details,visit www.unbc.ca/suny.
The University’s Computer Science program isoffering two computer camps for students aged 15 years and older. A Coding Boot Camp will run from July18-29 and include workshops on Java, Solaris, and various programminglanguages. A Robotics Camp will runthe first two weeks of August and cover sensors, programming, response andmovement, and speech. Each camp costs $100 (or $175 for registration in bothsessions). The UNBC Northern Timberwolves varsity basketballteams are hosting Basketball Camps thissummer at the Prince George Civic Centre:
- Grades2-6 will be July 25-28 and August 8-11 in the mornings ($85)
- Grades7-10 will be July 25-28 and August 8-11 from 10am-4pm ($130)
- Grades9-12 will be August 15-18 in the mornings (women) or the afternoons (men)for $130
