Official Naming Of The Geoffrey Weller Library Monday, October 29

UNBC founders and current students, faculty, and staff will pay tribute to the person who - more than anyone - shaped the creation of the University of Northern British Columbia. On Monday, October 29th, the UNBC Library will be officially named after Geoffrey R. Weller. Everyone is invited.

Geoffrey Weller was the University's Founding President and held the position until 1995, when he returned to teaching as a Professor in the UNBC International Studies program. He passed away last summer.

A plaque will be unveiled near the main entrance to the Library. New signage will also be unveiled inside the Library atrium.

The agenda for the event is as follows:

Library entrance - UNBC President Charles Jago, student Jamie Campbell, and International Studies professor Heather Myers will speak about Dr Weller's impact on UNBC.

Jean Weller, Geoffrey's wife, will be invited to speak.

Guests will move to the Atrium of the Administration Building for a presentation by Founding Dean Douglas Nord on Geoffrey Weller's scholarly contributions.
