UNBC Hosts Info Sessions
October 6, 2000 For Immediate Release
On Thursday, October 12th, the University of Northern British Columbia will host a pair of information sessions for prospective students interested in attending UNBC and those considering a career as a medical doctor.
At noon, Dr Joanna Bates, the Associate Dean of Admissions for the Faculty of Medicine at UBC, will give information and answer questions to prospective medical students. Dr Bates will outline the application process and indicate how students can fulfill the entrance requirements for medical school at UNBC. To qualify for medical school, students need a bachelor's degree and completion of specific courses in Biology, Chemistry, English, and Biochemistry - all of which are offered at UNBC. The information session will begin at 12 noon in Conference Centre Rooms 205-211. Michael Goodwin, a recent graduate of UNBC's Nursing program, is currently earning his medical degree with UBC.
That evening, starting at 7pm, UNBC will host a general information session for prospective students and their parents. The full range of degree programs will be identified, as well as student services and financial aid opportunities. A campus tour will also be available. The session will be held in the Weldwood Theatre (Room 7-238).
