UNBC Graduates Create Alumni Gardens On Campus
September 22, 2000 For Immediate Release
The Alumni Association of UNBC is starting a new project this weekend that will help improve the landscaping around the Prince George Campus. The Alumni Gardens is the first official project for the University's Alumni Association.
The project is a fundraiser, designed to allow UNBC graduates to donate funds to their Alma Mater for the purchase of flowers, shrubs and greenery, planted and tended by UNBC grads. A variety of bulbs and perennials will be planted tomorrow by about a dozen alumni. The planting will begin at 11am. Located around the roof of the Agora, the Alumni Gardens will be implemented in several stages. It's anticipated that the bulbs and perennials planted this year will be joined in the future by more flowers, trees, shrubs, and planters.
The Alumni Association is comprised of approximately 1700 graduates of the University, who have graduated from UNBC over the past six years. The Association exists to foster a continuing relationship between UNBC graduates and the University, and to form a network of contacts among all graduates. UNBC keeps in touch with its alumni through newsletters and special events and is working closely with the Association on this project.
