At its regular meeting on March 20th, the University of Northern British Columbia Board of Governors approved the $33 million 1999-2000 operating budget. A news release has been issued with the budget information. The meeting also produced a number of other highlights:
- Analysis of the 1998-99 enrolments has indicated that UNBC student numbers are about 4% above target. The following is based on the number of full-time equivalent students:

- Ron Fichtner of Prince George is a new appointment to the Board of Governors. He is a Partner at Deloitte and Touche and is a former Board member at Simon Fraser University. Former Board Chair Horst Sander has retired from the Board, after serving five years as Chair.
- The proposed Master's degree in Management has been put on hold while the Business Administration program continues recruiting faculty. The program is currently seeking professors in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Policy, and International Business.
