UNBC Child Welfare Research Centre Offers Social Work Summer Institute In Quesnel

The University of Northern British Columbia's Child Welfare Research Centre will be offering a Summer Institute in Quesnel, starting June 1.

The Centre is offering a fourth-year Social Work course, Social Policy and Social Work with Families, with classes taught every Saturday throughout the month of June. A full complement of more than 30 UNBC students have registered for this summer offering.

The course will be taught by UBC Social Work professor Richard Sullivan, and guest instructors will be from the Child and Family Review Board, Northern Shuswap Child and Family Services, and the Ministry of Social Services.

The UNBC Child Welfare Research Centre was established by a $530,000 grant from the Ministry of Social Services in 1995. The Centre is working with community groups, First Nations, regional agencies, and consumer groups to identify and address issues related to child welfare.
