Long Term Parking

Notes

  • Your account number is your phone number. 
  • Only one vehicle license plate can be linked to a virtual permit.
  • Anyone who regularly drives two or more vehicles should not purchase long-term parking through Paybyphone.  Please visit the Parking Office to purchase a hang-tag permit instead.
  • Contact Parking Services for any plate change requirements. 

Long Term Parking is sold by the month (up to a maximum of 12 months) or by the week (up to a maximum of 5 weeks).

  • Monthly rate: $55.00
  • Weekly rate: $15.00

Payroll deduction for reserved and general permits

Only regular employees are eligible for payroll deduction permits. It is incumbent upon employees to keep their vehicle information up to date with the Parking Office and comply with UNBC traffic and parking regulations. The permit holder is responsible for transferring and displaying the parking permit between registered vehicles. Failure to do so will result in a citation.

General: $25.39 bi-weekly (includes GST)
Reserved -without plug-in: $31.01 bi-weekly (includes GST)
Reserved -with plug-in: $36.66 bi-weekly (includes GST)

Reserved permits are only valid in their designated stalls - they are not valid in general parking.

An employee may request permission for another employee to use their reserved stall by emailing parking@unbc.ca with the employee's name, vehicle information and duration for use. Authorization will not be provided to any employee with outstanding citations. The reserved permit must be displayed on this vehicle while parked in the reserved stall.

Carpool permits

The Carpool permit rate is $35.00 per month and can be purchased up to a maximum of four (4) months within a semester.  Approved groups are issued one (1) permit which is to be shared and moved between the linked vehicles and must be clearly displayed.  If any of the linked vehicles are parked on campus without the Carpool permit, applicable parking fees must be paid. Failure to display the Carpool permit or pay for parking may result in a citation, and the Carpool permit may be revoked.
To qualify for a Carpool permit a group must have:

  • A minimum of three (3) individuals all of whom are current UNBC Faculty/Staff/ or Students
  • A minimum of two (2) vehicles/ maximum of four(4) vehicles are permitted. Proof of your current vehicle insurance documentation must be provided to the Parking Office . 
     

Accessible parking

Accessible parking is free in designated spaces as long as the vehicle displays a valid SPARC permit. For further information contact:

Any vehicle found occupying an accessible space without a valid SPARC permit will be subject to immediate fine and towing from campus.

If temporary accessible parking accommodations is required:  

Accessible parking stalls are identified on the Parking Services Map.

Bicycle parking

Bicycle parking at UNBC is free. There are many bicycle racks located throughout campus.

Fleet and research vehicles

Contact safety@unbc.ca for information regarding fleet and research vehicles.

Construction and contractor vehicles

Construction and contractor vehicles must display a contractor parking permit issued by Facilities Management or the Parking Office when parking on campus and must avoid parking in restricted areas such as but not limited to accessibility spaces, fire lanes and reserved spaces to avoid receiving a citation.

A permit is not required for any contractor vehicle in the process of loading or unloading in designated zones.
