It was a season for learning new skills and sharing stories through art, as students gathered with Cree/Dakelh artist Clayton Gauthier for wood carving sessions through the winter months.

The Northern BC Climate Action Network is holding its first in-person meeting at UNBC on April 4. The network, which launched in 2022, aims to identify and celebrate opportunities for climate action that work for northern B.C., encourage regional innovation and identify funding opportunities.  

At the 2023 Robert W. Tait Lecture, Senior Lab Instructor Dr. Umesh Parshotam will speak about his teaching journey and how that influences his current pedagogical philosophy.

UNBC is one of seven new university members of TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre. UNBC researchers have been working on projects at the facility since 1993. Currently, UNBC is involved in a project that aims to build the world’s most advanced ultra-cold-neutron facility to carry out the world’s most precise measurement of the neutron electric dipole moment.

When a Research Ambassador encouraged undergraduate student Ahmad Jalil to pursue his research interests by just reaching out to a professor in his field of interest, the Bachelor of Health Sciences student felt he might lack the skills required. His interest soon outweighed his hesitancy and he's recently submitted a manuscript for journal review based on his research with UNBC's Northern Analytical Laboratory Services.

Learning from the Elders that water is the most precious of the four elements, Dr. Darlene Sanderson's professional and academic pursuits have focused on caring for and protecting waterways. Recently appointed Dr. Donald B. Rix Leadership Chair for Indigenous Environmental Health at UNBC, Sanderson will join with community-based researchers from Tl’etinqox and Qwelmínte Secwépemc Nations as the keynote presentation on Monday, launching Research Week at our Prince George campus.

School of Business Associate Professor Dr. Kafui Monu has seen the benefits of having more diverse voices engaged in research, both in the quality of the studies and how the knowledge is mobilized.

UNBC student Sarah Dixon received a 2022 Skills Award for Indigenous Youth from the Forest Products Association of Canada and the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers, recognizing her contributions as a mentor to other Indigenous youth interested in natural resource industries and her commitment to a sustainable future.
