The Northern Medical Programs Trust (NMPT) also provides citizens of northern BC with the opportunity to contribute to the effective recruitment, education, and retention of healthcare professionals.

To date, funds have been allocated to place medical and nurse practitioner students in communities around northern BC. These experiences are inspiring them to pursue careers in the north.
Since 2002 thousands of individuals, communities, local businesses, corporations, and foundations have donated to the NMPT and built up a $9.5 million endowment to support healthcare students and offset the rising costs of medical education.
