First Nations Studies Assistant Professor Dr. Rheanna Robinson is an inaugural member of British Columbia’s Provincial Accessibility Committee.

Established under the Accessible British Columbia Act, the committee will engage with the public about accessibility standards and advise the provincial government. Robinson, an Indigenous scholar of Métis ancestry, lives with mobility impairments due to Multiple Sclerosis.

"I am honoured to have an opportunity to work alongside the esteemed members of the Provincial Accessibility Committee as we undertake the critical work of ensuring accessibility standards in British Columbia are representative of the diverse needs and realities for persons with disabilities,” Robinson says. “Realizing an equitable, inclusive, and barrier-free world for all is absolutely imperative."

Robinson is one of 11 British Columbians appointed to the committee and is the only university researcher among the initial group of appointees.
