Dr. Henry Harder appointed to Governing Council of CIHR Institutes Advisory Board
UNBC researcher Dr. Henry Harder has been appointed to the Governing Council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Institutes Advisory Boards on Indigenous Peoples’ Health.
Dr. Harder is an Indigenous Scholar and past Chair of UNBC’s School of Health Sciences. He currently holds the Dr. Donald B. Rix BC Leadership Chair in Aboriginal Environmental Health.
The IAB on Indigenous Peoples’ Health will provide advice on supporting the health and wellness of Indigenous peoples through shared research leadership throughout the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and on building the strategic alliances to transcend traditional boundaries and establish culturally sensitive policies and interventions.
His research interests are in Aboriginal health, disability issues, workplace mental health and suicide prevention.
Dr. Harder’s term on the national Governing Council is for four years. Each IAB consists of 10 to 15 members, including the chair and vice-chair, who are appointed by the Governing Council.
