Privacy

The UNBC Employee Privacy Handbook is a useful resource that both faculty and staff can use to learn about UNBC's privacy practices and requirements. The handbook has information about protecting personal information, privacy rights, privacy breaches, and privacy impact assessments. 

All UNBC employees are required to complete privacy training, which is hosted in D2L.

The Protection of Privacy Policy includes legislative requirements and employee obligations when it comes to safeguarding information under the custody and control of UNBC.

The Responding to a Privacy Incident or Privacy Breach Procedures includes legislative requirements and employee obligations when it comes to responding to privacy breaches at UNBC. 

Data Governance

The Records Management Policy covers information management requirements under FOIPPA, employee responsibilities concerning records management, and how individuals can request access to information held by UNBC.

The Responding to a Request for Access to or Correction of Information Procedures outline how UNBC must respond to access and correction requests. 

The Information and Record Classification Levels define the sensitivity of records and information in the custody or control of UNBC.

AI Guidance

This infographic helps explain what inputs and uses are authorized when using Copilot.

As the UNBC community continues to experiment with and use AI, the Office of Data Governance, Privacy, and Information Security has consolidated and generated a number of useful guides on when the use of generative AI is appropriate and when it is not.
