What work are you doing now?
I am an Actuarial Analyst, who helps to create pension plans with sustainable designs and efficient cost structures between employers and unions.

Sessional Instructor at Simon Fraser University.
What other training have you completed?
MSc Statistics and Actuarial Science from Western University.
How did your degree lead to these activities?
Economics gave me a solid foundation in terms of theoretical knowledge, technical leadership and communication skills partnered with strong help from the Mathematics program. This created a good foundation to do Actuarial Science and led to my Master of Science degree.
How do you use the knowledge acquired through the degree in your job/schooling?
Being able to communicate findings to a non-technical audience as you gain the ability to speak to both worlds in a professional setting.
What do you really enjoy about Economics?
A better understanding of decision-making and how that affects the people with whom I interact.
Why would you recommend the Economics program at UNBC to potential students?
The professors are excellent and the small class sizes enable you to interact with them. There are many opportunities to take on leadership roles and run tutorials. These benefits set you up for a solid graduate program or a career.
