Biography

Dr. Gai received her PhD in Mathematics from Dalhousie University in August 2021. Before joining the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UNBC as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Gai was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia from 2021 to 2024.

Research and Expertise

My research uses analytical and numerical techniques to study pattern formation and dynamics in novel reaction-diffusion (RD) systems. I am interested in both developing new theoretical approaches and analyzing specific real-world problems in pattern formation, such as in ecology, morphogenesis, and crime patterns. A significant focus of my work has been on analyzing bifurcations and the stability of localized patterns. In addition to deterministic RD systems, another main component of my research is understanding the role of randomness and its influence on dynamical systems.
