Dr. Tara Lynne Clapp is Chair of the School of Planning and Sustainability at the University of Northern British Columbia. Her research interests are in rural and northern sustainability and resilience, particularly in water and watersheds, and housing and development. She brings both practice and academic experience in rural planning to her work at UNBC. Tara has worked with rural communities, non-profits and First Nations in British Columbia, Alberta, Iowa and Kentucky. She is a leader in bringing student-oriented learning outcomes assessment to the planning curriculum. Prior to joining UNBC, she taught in Planning, Environmental Studies, Community Development and Environmental Policy at Iowa State, in the Great Plains IDEA Consortium, Johns Hopkins University, and at the University of Louisville. Tara is a new mountain biker, an old skier, and fully 60% water.
