UNBC reaches tentative deal with CUPE 3799
On June 13, 2019, the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) and CUPE 3799 successfully reached a tentative deal for a new collective agreement.
The agreement will be presented to union members for approval by June 26, 2019. The current CUPE contract expires on July 1, 2019. The new contract, once ratified, will be effective until July 1, 2022.
“I am pleased that a tentative settlement has been reached,” said Daniel Weeks, president and vice-chancellor of UNBC. “This agreement represents months of hard work by the University and Union bargaining teams, and I would like to thank and acknowledge everyone who played a role in developing a fair and equitable agreement that reflects the union’s interests while balancing our fiscal realities and strategic priorities.”
Details of the agreement remain confidential pending ratification by CUPE 3799 members and the Board of Governors.
