Indigenization in Action: Tools for the Classroom - 2024-2025 - Speaker Series
Join Wylee Fitz-Gerald, a Métis Oceanographer and Educator with Ocean Networks Canada, to explore the intersection of Indigenous Knowledge and Western Science. In responding to the Truth and Reconciliation’s Calls to Action universities and western institutions are in the process of figuring out what it means to incorporate Indigenous perspectives. While the importance of this is being routinely stated, it can be difficult to gauge your own understanding of the subject and determine your role in the process. This workshop is designed to walk participants through some historical context, different perspectives and terminology. No previous knowledge is required. A variety of learning techniques, from informal discussion to structured activities will be used to connect the workshop material to individual learning.
