NRESi Colloquium - Disability decolonized: Lived experiences, Indigenous knowledges, and teachings from Txeemsim - Dr. Rheanna Robinson
Indigenous perspectives on disability are underrepresented in scholarly research and literature. In this talk, Dr. Robinson combines her personal experiences and academic pursuits to examine traditional perspectives and contemporary views of disability for Indigenous peoples. Drawing from a study she completed with the Nisga’a Nation of Northwest BC, Dr. Robinson will discuss the impact of colonialism and settler ableism on Indigenous disability identities and how Indigenous worldviews have the potential to foundationally transform the understanding of disability in Canada and around the world.
The Natural Resources & Environmental Studies Institute (NRESi) at UNBC hosts a weekly lecture series at the Prince George campus.
