Forest management priorities in British Columbia are changing. Concepts like ecosystem health and integrity are increasingly used to assess the state of our natural landscapes. Widespread declines in these metrics are driven principally by human activity, highlighting the need for ecological restoration. But can we really restore ecosystems and if so, how? Join us for a short discussion on what ecosystem health and integrity means for BC, what role ecological restoration has to play, and what policy reforms may be necessary to safeguard the health of wild and human communities.

This event is funded by the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation. The Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation is a non-profit charitable foundation acting as Trustee of the Habitat Conservation Trust. HCTF came into existence because its major contributors (hunters, anglers, trappers, and guide-outfitters) were willing to pay for conservation work above and beyond that expected by government for basic management of wildlife and fish resources.

The Natural Resources & Environmental Studies Institute (NRESi) at UNBC hosts a weekly lecture series at the Prince George campus. Anyone from the university or wider community with interest in the topic area is welcome to attend. Presentations are also made available to remote participants through Zoom Webinar. Go to http://www.unbc.ca/nres-institute/colloquium-webcasts to view the presentation remotely.
