According to a Lancet Report (2018), 16% of all global deaths are linked to the environment, roughly 9 million deaths yearly. Simple solutions, both hard and soft approaches, could reduce most of these deaths. In this seminar, I will share my two decades of journey in research, teaching, training, and implementation projects on environmental health, including success stories from the coldest capital in the world. I will also share my research conducted with the University of Victoria and UNHCR to support one of the largest refugee camps in Bangladesh and indigenous and marginalized communities in different countries. At the end of the seminar, I will talk about developing our future women leaders’ capacity in this field to tackle environmental health issues globally and reduce the deaths caused by environmental factors.
