The University of Northern British Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track position in Film and Television Studies in the Department of English at the rank of Assistant Professor, with a proposed starting date of July 1, 2025.

The Department is seeking a scholar in the field of Film and Television Studies. Applicants with an additional expertise in Creative Writing are of particular interest. Applicants for this position should hold a PhD in Film and Television Studies or a related field by the time of employment, have a strong research program, a growing record of scholarly activity, and present evidence of and commitment to teaching excellence. Teaching experience at the university or college level is an asset.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach lower- and upper-division undergraduate courses as well as senior courses in their area of expertise and graduate level offerings. Interdisciplinary interests in other areas, for example, the history of international, anti-colonial, and Indigenous cinematic traditions or intersectional approaches to visual cultural production, are desirable, as is the ability to teach in other programs in the Faculty of Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences and Humanities (or other Faculties) at UNBC.
