Located in the spectacular landscape of northern British Columbia and primarily situated on the unceded traditional territories of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, part of the Dakelh (Carrier) peoples' territory, UNBC is one of Canada’s best small universities, with a passion for teaching, discovery, people, the environment, and the North.

UNBC provides outstanding undergraduate and graduate learning opportunities that explore cultures, health, economies, sciences, and the environment. As one of B.C.’s leading researchintensive universities, UNBC brings the excitement of new knowledge to its students, and the outcomes of its teaching and research to the world. Home to over 3,000 students, UNBC recently placed among the top five percent of higher education institutions worldwide by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Following an extensive consultation process, UNBC recently restructured its academic model from two Colleges to five Faculties, with an aim to ensure students and faculty are provided an exceptional experience in an innovative, interdisciplinary, and dynamic academic environment. The new Faculties will have full accountability for undergraduate and graduate programs in Prince George and across Northern BC. The new Faculties include: Science & Engineering; Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences & Humanities; Environment; Human & Health Sciences; and Business & Economics.

The new Faculty of Human & Health Sciences represents an exciting opportunity for a Dean to lead faculty, staff and students through visioning and strategic planning that will continue UNBC’s success for years to come. With goals to increase undergraduate and graduate student numbers, fundraising, and research success, this is a time of ambition and forward-thinking at UNBC. The Faculty includes an innovative and exciting diversity of disciplines, including psychology, social work, nursing, education, and health sciences.

Reporting to the Provost, the new Dean provides overall strategic leadership and direction to Faculty on all undergraduate and graduate academic programs, experiential learning opportunities, and pathway initiatives across northern British Columbia and beyond. The Dean is responsible for ensuring a high-quality educational experience for UNBC students throughout the region and supports the growth of the faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished scholar appointable as an Associate or Full Professor at UNBC within one of the five disciplines in the Faculty. With passion and commitment to advancing the excellence of research and education in the Faculty, the Dean will bring outstanding skills as it relates to leadership, communications, and relationship building to be highly effective in this role.
