UNBC Seeks Nominations for Honorary Degrees

The University of Northern British Columbia is seeking nominations forrecipients of its most prestigious public award, the Honorary Doctor ofLaws degree. Honorary degrees are presented annually to individuals whohave an exemplary record of service in scholarship, teaching, publicservice, the arts, business, and other activities of great value tosociety. They have achieved successes at the regional, provincial,national, or international levels.
Past honorary degree recipients have included Haida artist Bill Reid,Lieutenant Governor Iona Campagnolo, former Premiers William VanderZalm and Michael Harcourt, and industry pioneers I.K. Barber and HorstSander. In 2007, honorary degrees were presented to former UBCPresident Martha Piper and health researcher Mamoru Watanabe.
Nominations will be accepted by the University until October 8.Nominations must include the name and address of the nominee, a currentcurriculum vitae (resume) of the nominee, a summary of the nominee’sachievements and/or publications, a brief statement of advocacy for thenominee outlining why the nominee should be considered for the honour,and the name, address, and phone number(s) of the nominator(s).
