Board of Governors to Meet on Friday

The Board of Governors for the University of Northern British Columbia will be meeting tomorrow afternoon. The public meeting will begin at 1:15pm in the Bentley Centre.

Among the items on the agenda are the following:
•    Approval of agreements between the City of Prince George, Northern Sport Centre Ltd., and the University pertaining to the operation of the Northern Sport Centre. These agreements cover capital funding, the day-to-day operation of the facility, in-house sport medicine services, and the business plan.
•    A comprehensive budget plan for Athletics, including a comparison of the costs and benefits related to competition in various leagues.
•    An update on applications and registrations for the Fall 2007 semester.
•    Approval of a renovation plan for the Geoffrey R. Weller that will allow it to accommodate the growing library collection.

Various items will also be discussed concerning the planning for the 2007-08 budget. These include an overview of organizational changes, progress to date on achieving cost savings, and consideration of a Senate motion to rescind the temporary suspension of admission into four degree programs. Formal approval of the 2007-08 budget will be on the agenda for the Board’s June 22 meeting.
